The rains once again flooded cities in Rio Grande do Sul this weekend. In Três Coroas, a city about 100 kilometers from the capital Porto Alegre, the streets were flooded and water covered cars and houses.
At 7:46 pm, the Rio Grande do Sul Civil Defense issued on X (formerly Twitter) a flood alert for the Paranhana River. The river bathes the cities of Igrejinha, Parobé, Três Coroas and Taquara.
The municipality of Três Coroas announced, at 5 pm, that the level of the Paranhana River rose to 3.5 meters.

From Fri (June 14, 2024) to Sun (June 16), the Civil Defense of Rio Grande do Sul issued 12 alerts on the corporation’s official website for intense rains with the risk of flooding, strong winds and electrical discharges in a large part of the State.
On Saturday (June 15), a “microexplosion” hit São Luiz Gonzaga, a city in the northwest of Rio Grande do Sul. The meteorological phenomenon occurs when the cloud cannot support the amount of water and “dumps” a lot of rain in a short period of time.
