On February 16, a 14-year-old boy named Rayan H. died suddenly near the Espartales metro, in Getafe (Madrid). Then, his entourage reported that someone had given him large quantities of drugs, specifically what was known as pink cocaine, which had caused his death. The final autopsy report, in the hands of investigators, concludes that the boy’s death was due to sudden cardiac arrest and classifies the legal etiology as natural death. He had not used drugs, police sources indicate.
This report is a definitive step to rule out other possible avenues of investigation, including the one initially indicated by the boy’s entourage that some acquaintances he had met with had put pink cocaine in his drink. After taking statements from everyone who was with Rayan that day and analyzing the security cameras in the area, this version was discarded, something that has been confirmed by the final autopsy report.
The minor was with several friends drinking an energy drink a few steps from the Espartales metro stop when he collapsed. The witnesses then said that he hit his chin first when he fell, that he momentarily regained consciousness, but that he immediately fainted again. A man passing through the area with first aid knowledge began the first resuscitation maneuvers, which were later continued by Summa 112, but nothing could be done to reactivate his heart.
At first it was suggested that the boy had voluntarily consumed cocaine, but the definitive results of the autopsy have been decisive in ending this investigation and ruling out involuntary manslaughter or overdose.
