A fire has destroyed a dacha in the Altai Mountains frequented by Russian President Vladimir Putin, reports the Daily Mail.
The flames razed one of the winter residences where the Tsar also allegedly hid a secret anti-nuclear bunker. The building, owned by Gazprom and used for the extraction of blood from deer antlers for “miraculous” youth baths, had also hosted former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi on one of his visits to the head of the Kremlin.
Russia-Ukraine war, today’s news
The causes of the fire, which the blogger Amyr Aitashev and the activist Aruna Arna first spoke about, are not yet clear: in recent months Ukrainian drones had attempted to hit these types of targets in Russiabut law enforcement officials have refused to comment and civilians are not allowed to approach the facility.
According to security services, the residence in the Ongudaysky district, in the Altai Republic, a region of Siberia bordering Mongolia, China and Kazakhstan, was used by senior military officers for “recreational purposes”, but according to other reports the palace had hosted an advanced bunker, with a vast network of underground tunnelsto protect Putin and his family in the event of nuclear war.
