“We continue to insist on improving migration. That is why we have a family unification, in which families who are here (Colombia) are going to reunite with their relatives in the United States,” Murillo mentioned.
He reported that around 500 Colombian families have benefited of the reunification program with the United States and it is expected that around 58,000 will benefit in total.
Work visa program for Colombians
Another novelty that stood out is a work visa program that will benefit Colombians residing in North America.
The chancellor reported that the United States has approved, for the first time, 20,000 work visas non-agricultural, so that Colombians can emigrate legally and without problems. In addition, he revealed that in collaboration with the United States Embassy, visas have been granted a thousand young Colombians who will travel this summer to study and work in that country.
“They are going to go to work in the summer in the United States to improve their English, to have greater skills in the workplace. And that is a program that is giving very good results“added Murillo.
