For more than 100 days there is no trace of Ana María Henao Knezevichthe Colombian who disappeared in Spain in the middle of the separation from her husband, the Serbian David Knezevich.
Henao, a resident of Florida, United States, was seeking to end her 13-year marriage with the foreigner, with whom she had a technology services company and other properties. However, ending the bond had become a complex process.

“The separation was controversial,” an FBI agent described in the court file, because “Knezevich did not want to divide the marital property equally with the victim.”
The 40-year-old Colombian decided to travel to Spain to take a break. She had told her family that she was afraid of her husband and she believed he was watching her.
A series of events before and after February 2, the day of her disappearance, have led the Prosecutor’s Office and US authorities to accuse the Serbian of being involved in the case, which has search personnel trying to find the woman’s whereabouts. .
paint and tape
The clock struck 2:20 pm on February 2. That was the last time the Colombian was seen entering an apartment building in Madrid, where she spent her days..
At 9:27 pm, a strange man wearing a helmet appeared. According to the court record, he managed to enter the building when other people were leaving. He went down the stairs and approached the security camera with a can of spray paint. She tried to cover the camera lens, but it didn’t completely obscure it.

He then put duct tape on the door, apparently to prevent it from closing completely.
Suitcase
Almost an hour later, at 10:30 pm, the same subject came out of the elevator carrying what, for the researcher, would be a suitcase.
“The man, who looks directly into the camera, has physical characteristics that resemble those of Knezevich,” he said.
The translation “in perfect Colombian”
Knezevich had met a Colombian woman through a dating application in October 2023. They had not had any communication until the woman received a WhatsApp message on February 3, the day after Ana María disappeared.
The Serbian asked him for a special favor: to translate a message into “perfect Colombian.” He assured him that one of his friends was writing a script with a Colombian character, so he wanted the writing to sound “authentic”:
“I met someone wonderful. He has a summer house about 2h from Madrid. We are going there now and I will spend a few days there. There is barely any signal though. I’ll call you when I come back. Kisses.”
The translated text that the woman sent him was: “I met a very cool person. He has a recreation house about two hours from Madrid. Now we’re leaving and I’ll spend a few days there, although there’s barely any signal. I’ll let you know when I get back. Kisses.”

The previous message was received by Ana María’s friends hours later. Authorities inspected the apartment where the Colombian woman was seen in Madrid, but they did not find her cell phone or computer. Who took them and continued using them?
The rented Peugeot
Ana María’s husband traveled from Miami to Turkey on January 27, and then headed to Serbia. On January 30, he left the country in a rented car, model Peugeot 308.
He returned the vehicle on March 15, with several peculiarities: the windows were tinted, the license plate frame had changed and he had removed two stickers.
From the research, The car traveled about 7,677 kilometers during the time Knezevich rented it. Between Serbia and Spain there is a distance of 2,592 kilometers.
Why was the license plate frame changed? The FBI learned that in the first days of February a person in Spain reported the theft of his car’s license plates: “The Spanish authorities (…) discovered that the stolen license plate was on Francisco Sivela Street, the street where the vehicle was located. the apartment of the victim (Ana María)”.
Francisco Silvela Street, in Madrid, where the stolen license plate was located, right in the sector where Ana María’s apartment was located.

The Peugeot 308 was caught at two toll booths in Spain with a stolen license plate and tinted windows, which did not allow us to establish who was behind the wheel.
Calls with a woman’s voice
A woman who said she was Ana María called an insurance company on March 4 to cancel three policies. The advisor, in the background, listened to several children, but the Colombian woman did not have children.
When investigators traced the cell phone number they found another connection: it was in the name of one of Serbian Knezevich’s companies..

A new unusual call occurred on April 24. An employee from abroad confessed to the authorities that Knezevich ordered her to contact a bank and impersonate Ana María to open an account.
The worker expressed her discomfort to the Serbian, but he insisted that she had to do it so that “the employees would be paid.”
“I can’t call with my voice because I sound like a man,” he told her.
The previous evidence, which is part of the judicial file, was exposed in the hearings against Knezevich, who was captured on May 4 in Miami and is accused of the possible kidnapping of his wife.
A judge denied her bail due to flight risk, so she will remain behind bars, while in Spain they try to find out what happened to the Colombian.
