Russian Foreign Ministry: Britain continues to make efforts to increase the degree of confrontation
Britain not only does not plan to abandon the course of a tough confrontation with Russia, but also continues to make every effort to increase the degree of confrontation. The director of the second European department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergei Belyaev, spoke about this, writes TASS.
He commented on the anti-Russian sanctions announced by London on May 8, including the expulsion of the Russian military attache from the country and the removal of diplomatic status in some Russian-owned real estate.
“It is obvious that the British government not only does not intend to abandon the course of a tough confrontation with Russia, but also continues to make significant efforts to increase the degree of confrontation,” Belyaev noted.
Earlier, former Prime Minister and current British Foreign Secretary James Cameron said that the West should take a tougher position to fight Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Cameron also stated that the West “did not learn the lesson” from the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine. In his opinion, Western countries must understand that hesitation on their part will “empower authoritarian opponents.”
