An 88-year-old woman, her son, 51, and an 81-year-old man, the woman’s partner, died this morning as a result of a fire in their home, in the Murcian town of Ricote (1,240 inhabitants), which has was completely destroyed.
As detailed by sources from the 112 Emergency Coordination Center to EL PAÍS, the octogenarian, owner of the home, contacted the home telecare service, of which she was a user, at around 2 in the morning, alerting that there was a fire. at her home and that she could not locate her son, who lived with her and her partner.
It was the company that provides the telecare service that notified the emergency services and, when the firefighters arrived, they found the house completely on fire, so they could not access it until the fire was extinguished. Once inside, they found the lifeless bodies of the old woman, her partner, and her son.
The fire started for reasons that are still being investigated on the ground floor of the home, an old single-family and multi-story house in the old town. The flames spread through all the floors of the house, which have been completely destroyed.
The mayor of the town, Rafael Guillamón, has explained to EL PAÍS that the causes of the fire will probably take days to clarify, given the state of the house, in which members of the Civil Guard, displaced from the town, continued working this morning. Cieza barracks.

The City Council has decreed three days of official mourning for this incident which, according to the mayor, has left all the residents of this small municipality in the heart of the Ricote Valley region “dismayed.” The municipal corporation has issued an institutional statement to convey its support to the family of those affected.
