Sabreen came into the world seconds after her mother left her. The two were in Gaza, specifically in Rafah, when their family's house was hit by a Israeli bombing. Almost everyone died: the little girl's father, her four-year-old sister and her mother. But as soon as health workers realized that the woman – also called Sabreen – was 30 weeks pregnant, they performed an emergency caesarean section at the Kuwaiti hospital in Rafah.
The little girl also risked dying and struggled to breathe. The doctors laid her down on a small carpet and began pumping air into her open mouth. She has now been placed in an incubator in the intensive care unit, but one cannot yet breathe a sigh of relief.

«We can say that there is some progress in his health conditions, but the situation is still at risk – explained Dr. Mohammad Salameh, head of the unit -. This child should have been in her mother's womb at this time, but she was deprived of this right.”
“The little girl of the martyr Sabreen” is her identity, written in pen on a piece of tape around the newborn's chest. Sabreen is not alone. Her paternal grandmother is still alive and has promised to take care of her. «Welcome – said the grandmother -. She is my love, my soul. It is a memory of her father, my son. I will take care of her.” Although the body of Sabreen's father has not yet been found in the rubble, her grandmother assures that he was with the family at the time of the bombing.
