Together with the official sale of Gearbox Studio which, as we reported in a dedicated article, definitively passes from Embracer Group to Take-Two Interactive, a new announcement from the studio comes as a surprise.
Borderlands 4 exists and indeed, it is already being worked on by the teams that have moved to Gearbox's Take-Two: the announcement comes from one of the new owners of the studio, namely David Ismailer, president of 2K:
“We are thrilled to welcome Randy Pitchford and his team of passionate and talented developers to 2K – we look forward to releasing numerous projects in the future as colleagues.
We have loved collaborating with Gearbox on every single iteration of the Borderlands franchise and are thrilled to be in the midst of developing the next chapter in the series.”
Borderlands 4, in short, is definitely a reality: it is hoped that the recently presented film of the franchise will be able to obtain such popularity as to give an important boost to the sales of the new game of which, at the moment, we do not have any indicative date regarding the release.
We will obviously keep you updated on all developments on the fourth chapter of Gearbox Studio's flagship series, which today begins its adventure under the protective wing of Take Two Interactive after a complicated relationship with Embracer.
