While Princess Kate is celebrated for her outfits, other royals are often criticized. Princess Eugenie has now commented on the constant reviews of her appearance.
London – All members of the British royal family are always under close public scrutiny. The two princess sisters Eugenie (33) and Beatrice (35) have also had to endure one or two malicious headlines. In particular, the outfits and eye-catching hats of the daughters of Prince Andrew (63) and Sarah Ferguson (64) were often not well received. Now Princess Eugenie reveals in a podcast how close these comments are to her.
Princess Eugenie: Criticism “caused problems” for her
The constant criticism of her appearance “definitely caused a few problems” for her, the 33-year-old reveals in an interview with mother-daughter duo Jessie and Lennie Ware on the “Table Manners” podcast. Because of the constant evaluations about her appearance, she was very fixated on “having to look a certain way.”
“I think everyone has that when they are in public,” says the niece of King Charles III. (75). But the problem in the royal family is that, of all things, teenagers become the focus of public attention. “I guess in our family it happens at the perfect age, when you’re 13 and you have this stupid haircut and you’re a little chubby and all the boys are bullying you.” Especially at this age, what you want above all is the certainty that you are on the right path. “And you get the opposite,” she complains.
Princess Eugenie criticizes pressure from society
At her second home in Portugal, the mother of two enjoys not having to worry about her appearance. Because there she is not so much in the public eye. “I can go to the supermarket in my tracksuit with my hair piled on top of my head and it doesn’t bother me. Doesn’t matter. Nobody cares,” she says happily.
Princess Eugenie also talks about the pressure that society puts on new mothers. That makes her “crazy”. Especially topics like the “after-baby body”: “Society dictates that you have to shake off the weight of your baby.” Princess Eugenie gave birth to her second son at the end of May.
