The WhatsApp messaging application is continually updated, so some cell phones are no longer compatible with this platform, as will happen on March 31.
“Devices and software change frequently, so we regularly review the operating systems we support and make updates accordingly,” the app explained on its website.
WhatsApp highlighted that each year it identifies the most outdated cell phones and software, as well as devices with fewer users, to choose those models that will no longer work in its application.
Another factor that is taken into account is the security update, since there are cell phones that do not have it, or that do not have the functionality required to run the application.
What cell phones will WhatsApp no longer work on?
On its website, WhatsApp detailed that it is currently compatible with the following devices:
- Devices running Android OS 4.1 and later.
- Devices with iOS 10 and later versions.
- Devices running KaiOS 2.5.0 and later.
Mobile phones that have operating systems older than those mentioned, will no longer be able to use WhatsApp from March 31, 2022.
Some models that will be left without this messaging service are:
- LG Optimus 4X HD, Optimus L7, Lucid 2, Optimus L3 II Dual, Optimus L2 II and Optimus F3Q.
- Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus and S3 Mini VE.
- Xiaomi Mi2s.
- Huawei Ascend G525, Ascend G740, Ascend Mate and Ascend D2.
- Lenovo S890.
- iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, 5s, 5c and SE.
- ZTE Grand S Flex and V956.
- sony xperia m
Finally, WhatsApp mentioned that before it stops supporting an operating system, it will send several reminders for the user to update it on their cell phone to continue using the application.
