The Turk is dominating in Superbike
Toprak Razgatlioglu and the Yamaha they interrupted their collaborative relationship a year ago also – if not above all – due to a test with the MotoGP carried out in Jerez in which the Iwata manufacturer did not put the Turk in a position to express himself at his best on his debut on a prototype of the premier class of speed motorcycling. BMW made golden bridges to bring the Turk astride the 1000 of the Munich company and the results immediately proved the new Razgatlioglu-BMW duo right, which won three races out of three in Misano.
Kenan Sofuoglu’s protégé is leader of the World Championship with 21 points ahead of Nicolò Bulega and has a great chance of winning the title on his debut with BMW as early as 2024. According to what was reported by the Spanish newspaper AS there could be a backfire between Razgatlioglu and Yamaha for a possible landing in MotoGP starting from 2025.
The Iwata company has for now renewed Fabio Quartararo’s contract until 2026, but potentially has from one to three ‘free’ saddles given that in all likelihood the Pramac team could leave Ducati to accept Yamaha’s very rich offer to become the satellite team of the three tuning forks brand. In the past Sofuoglu had made contact with the Pramac team to explore their possible willingness to accept the Razgatlioglu ‘gamble’. In addition, it should not be forgotten that Lin Jarvis he will leave the role of project manager at the end of 2024. In Yamaha there is already a new course led by former Ducati Max Bartolini at the technical management level and therefore given that the horizons – and the managers – have changed in Yamaha it would not be so sensational a ‘step backwards’ both on the part of Yamaha and on the part of Toprak Razgatlioglu and his entourage regarding a future together in MotoGP.
