On March 25, 2024 Irena Pereira, CEO of Unleashed Gamesmade a post on X boasting that the studio's next game had no gods white males among the initial characters. Naturally, a hornet's nest arose which attracted ferocious retaliation against the company, fortunately only verbal, so much so that it forced the closure of its social channels.
“Wait until they notice how none of our initial characters in the alpha build he is a white male. Nobody. Six.” Pereira wrote, somewhat imprudently, considering her role in the company.
Obviously her exit attracted the ire of a certain part of gamers, who began to attack her and her team with various types of insults, also wondering if Unleashed Games wasn't a form of reverse discrimination.
An unhappy exit?
Furthermore, it has been pointed out that the Unleashed Games team is made up largely of white males, which would conflict with the claim inclusiveness of the choice not to include white males as starting characters.
However, the community response was so strong and violent that both Unleashed Games and Pereira closed their social accounts.
