The accounts reinforce investment for street repairs and allocate more funds to urgently needed aid
The Plenary approved, with the votes in favor of the PSOE, the 2022 Budget, which amounts to 22,592,866 euros, 2.3 million more than last year, to which must be added the 2.6 million recently approved to undertake eleven projects with the remaining cash, and 400,000 euros from the Pósito Agrícola. Therefore, the Consistory will have 25.5 million for all the chapters in which the accounts are divided. The largest amount section is for Personal, which takes more than eleven million. And about eight million are dedicated to external hiring.
As for the main novelties, an item of 20,000 euros is created to sign an agreement with the Regulatory Council of the Jumilla Denomination of Origin to carry out a wine fair. There are also two items of 20,000 euros for a new phase of the restoration of the organ of Santiago and the arrangement of the dome of the church of El Salvador.
A significant increase is reflected on public roads, going from just over 350,000 last year to about a million and a half in 2022, to which must be added 50,000 euros for new containers and 30,000 for energy efficiency.

In Social Services, the investment increases to 1.6 million euros, with items that amount to urgently needed aid, with 150,000 euros, extraordinary aid worth 40,000 euros, 50,000 euros for the contribution of subsidized programs, an agreement with the Spanish Association against Cancer of Jumilla worth 8,000 euros and an agreement with the AFAD association, worth 10,000 euros.
In Education, aid to students is maintained, increasing the item for the arrangement of schools to 70,000 euros, while in Celebrations the same direct subsidies are guaranteed to festive groups. In Tourism, the investment is doubled to 300,000 euros, with an item of 20,000 euros for the file of National Interest of the Harvest Festival.
PP complaints
The PP spokeswoman, Severa González, defended the 16 amendments presented by her group, of which three were withdrawn due to unfavorable technical reports. Some of those who did vote asked for a subsidy of 20,000 euros for the Society of Hunters of the Asunción, aid for agri-food groups and an increase in trade campaigns. All were rejected by the PSOE. The mayor complained about the “delay” with which the Budget arrives.
