Mahmoud Al-Khatib, President of Al-Ahly Club, delighted the fans of his club by announcing the strong strengthening of the team’s ranks a few weeks ago, in a video speech broadcast by Al-Ahly channel, raising the ceiling of ambitions sharply.
On the other hand, Mortada Mansour, president of Zamalek Club, refused the fans’ interference in deals or their demand to include a certain number of players in statements to his club’s channel, so some thought that he would not conclude many deals.
Three to ten
Zamalek fought the transfer season vigorously, and succeeded in signing 10 new players to strengthen its ranks, after the ban on the restriction that prevented him from including any player last season expired.
The White Club management contracted with the foreign trio Zakaria El Oudry (Morocco), Ibrahima Ndaye (Senegal), and Samson Akinola (Benin), to join the Tunisian duo in the team Hamza Mathlouthi and Saif Eddine Jaziri.
Zamalek completed its five African seats in the list of the new season, according to the regulations of the Egyptian Football Association, and then went on to add 7 new local players to its list.
Zamalek included Amr El-Sisi and Mostafa El-Zanari from Vanguard of the Army, Mostafa Shalaby from Enppi and Youssef Hassan from Wadi Degla, Nabil Imad and Omar Jaber from Pyramids, and Mohamed Sobhi was recovered from Farco.
On the other hand, Al-Ahly only included 3 players, by signing the Brazilian Bruno Savio from Bolivian Bolivar, and the Egyptian duo Shadi Hussein and Mustafa Saad from Ceramica Cleopatra.
As for Al-Ahly, it entered the new season for the first time in its history with an incomplete list of foreigners’ seats, as its list includes only 4 players instead of 5, and they are; Tunisia’s Ali Maaloul, Mali’s Aliou Diang, South African Percy Tau, in addition to Bruno Savio.
change in policy
Al-Ahly club changed its contracting policy this season, and turned to building a strong youth team that can support the first team with players throughout the season or in the next few years.
Al-Ahly included a number of juniors and youth from various clubs in Egypt, led by Karim Al-Dabis and Abdel-Rahman Rashdan from Wadi Degla, and Mohamed Ghazal, the talent of the Tersana Club, and they were registered with the youth team.
And Marcel Koehler, Al-Ahly coach, may rely on some of the young players who were contracted in the last transfer market, in order to give his list the appropriate depth in the new season.
Al-Ahly club presented several players from the youth team at the end of last season, most notably Ziad Tariq and Ahmed Sayed Gharib, so that Coller decided to loan the latter and keep the first with the team.
strong competition
Zamalek won the league championship in the last two seasons in Egypt, while Al-Ahly lost its favorite title, but the management of the Red Club still trusts that it has a group of the best players who can regain the title without much reinforcement.
Al-Ahly experienced a state of stress during the past two seasons, due to the pressure of the African Champions League, which was played 3 times in two years, in addition to participating twice in the World Cup clubs and playing a large number of matches.
As for Zamalek, he left the Champions League from the group stage twice in a row to devote himself very early to the Egyptian League and succeeded in controlling it and winning the 13th and 14th titles in its history.
The competition between the two teams was not strong in the transfer market, as Al-Ahly and Zamalek did not try to include the same player only once, which is the deal of the player Mustafa Shalaby from Enppi before Al-Ahmar withdrew from the deal and the Petroleum Club decided to give it to Al-Abyad.
Next season will witness strong competition after the return of Al-Ahly’s injured players and the end of the exhaustion that struck the ranks of its international stars, and Zamalek will return stronger after its new reinforcements in search of its third title in a row in the league.
