Therapist Kuprin: at the beginning of the swimming season you should not take a running dive into the water
People without hardening can begin the swimming season in natural reservoirs no earlier than when the water temperature rises above plus 18 degrees, and the air temperature above plus 22 degrees, said general practitioner Svetlana Kuprina. Rules for the safe opening of the swimming season called in a conversation with Doctor Peter.
According to her, for swimming you need to choose proven, specially designated places. However, even if this condition is met, at the beginning of the swimming season, adults should not be in the water for more than 15 minutes, and children should not be in the water for more than three minutes. “You can swim longer than the indicated time if the water has warmed up to 24 degrees Celsius or higher. But even in this case, it is better not to stay in the water for more than 40 minutes,” explained Kuprina.
She also urged against running dives into cold water early in the season. Kuprina explained that when quickly immersed in cold water, the blood vessels sharply narrow, which increases the load on the heart. If a person has heart problems, this can result in a hypertensive crisis, heart rhythm disturbances, heart attack, and calf muscle cramps, the doctor warned.
