Ifema Madrid has today presented the content of its programming for the Christmas season of leisure events, concerts and shows which will attract more than 300,000 spectatorswith the help of important promoters and producers of the entertainment industry. Participating in the event were Daniel Martínez, executive vice president of Ifema Madrid; Gonzalo Peña, partner of Music Hall; Sandra García-Sanjuán, founder and CEO of Grupo Starlite; Manuel González, co-founder and CEO of Productos de Sonrisas; Javier Navares, protagonist and artist director of Malinche El Musicalial; Miguel Deparamo, CEO and creative director of WAH Show Madrid; Rafael Giménez, director of Sold Out, and Jesús López, director of Disorder Events.
In total there will be 19 events on the bill, including musicals, concerts, festivals, large shows, spectacles and large-format exhibitions that will head the cultural and leisure agenda of Ifema Madrid. All of them, special events that have found the ideal space due to the versatility of the facilities and their ability to adapt to special assemblies and formats that would have no place for staging in other spaces in the city. In addition to offering access facilities, large parking areas and security guarantees for this type of large public events.
Daniel Martínez, executive vice president of Ifema Madrid, has emphasized the importance that Madrid is acquiring, becoming a key destination for tourism and entertainment in Europe, an industry that also has a special weight in the economy. Thus he confirmed that “Ifema Madrid will close an exceptional year 2024, with record figures of activity with the celebration of 49 major leisure and cultural eventscompared to 40 in 2023 and concentrating the presence of 1.9 million attendees, a far cry from the previous year, which mobilized 1.2 million people.
Under the Ifema Madrid Live brand, the Madrid Fair Institution reinforces its commitment to quality leisure tourism, positioning itself as a benchmark in Madrid’s cultural and entertainment offering. An activity that goes beyond the fairs and conferences that it hosts in its facilities, and that has become one of the strategic pillars of its business lines, promoting quality leisure, and collaborating with prominent producers and promoters of the entertainment and music industry.
Programming
In total, 19 events on the bill including musicals, concerts, festivals, big shows, shows and exhibitionswith music taking center stage, along with the latest Circus of Horrors show, ‘Requiem: Final Symphony’, the new proposal of ‘Circlassica’ or Nacho Cano’s musical, ‘Malinche’. Among the offerings there will also be WAH Show Madrid, which combines music and gastronomy, or the ‘Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes’ exhibition.
So, Starlite Christmas will celebrate its second edition from December 12 to 31 at Ifema Madrid (halls 12 and 14) and will do so with performances by Alejandro Fernández, Vanesa Martín, Camilo, the international group Black Eyed Peas and the Madrid band Taburete, which will thus end to his 2024 tour.
Niña Pastori, Il Divo, Grupo Frontera, DJ Nano, Mau y Ricky, Clean Bandit, Isabel Pantoja and Estopa, will complete the lineup. In addition, it will celebrate its New Year’s Eve for the first time with a concert by Hombres G and the ‘after party’ by Juan Magán.
Among the musical proposals also stands out The Dire Straits Experience (December 7, Hall 1), a tribute to a band that, although dissolved more than 30 years ago, continues to attract new generations of fans, with sales of 120 million worldwide. Chris White, former partner of Mark Knopfler, leads this live proposal that recovers the sound of the legendary English band.
For its part, Sacro by Mëstiza will close its season on December 13 at the same location. With their unmistakable style that fuses avant-garde electronics and the depths of flamenco, the DJs and producers Mëstiza have created a unique concept that mixes tradition and modernity with their hypnotic sounds.
The next day it will be the turn of this pavilion for Domingueros, a new session of international electronic music, which will feature leading artists such as Ben Böhmer, Colyn or George Fitzgerald or Massano.
On December 19, the protagonists of this scenario will be the Gypsy Kings. Led by the virtuoso guitar of Tonino Baliardo, there will be timeless classics such as ‘Bamboleo’, ‘Volare’ and ‘Djobi Djoba’, along with new songs that show the evolution of the band while staying true to their characteristic sound.
Furthermore, on December 22, Rock en familia joins forces with Music Hall for an evening to enjoy with the little ones with a rock soundtrack. Hosted by storyteller María del Rock and her dolls, they explore a special show of ‘I love rock and roll’, the number 1 family show on the national billboard that more than 50,000 people have already enjoyed. The music of Queen, AC/DC, Tina Turner, Oasis, RHCP, Elvis, Green Day and many more will be present with activities such as face painting, games and workshops.
Music festivals
The dance music show Oro Viejo by DJ Nano will be the protagonist on December 21 with the innovative ‘Tardebuena’ (pavilion 1) to experience a Christmas “afternoon” spiced with music. That same day, Bresh!, known as “the most beautiful party in the world”, will also take place. A night in which more than 10,000 people will enjoy ‘hitazo after hitazo’ in a dynamic mix of timeless hits from reggaeton, pop, cumbia, tras and electronic music.
Besides, WAH Show Madridthe musical and gastronomic show, will offer a new season with shows and renewed culinary proposals, this time in Space 5.1 of the Ifema Madrid Fairgrounds, where the combination of cutting-edge technology and art is complemented by the artistic cast made up of more of 80 great professionals.
Five hours of enjoyment through three acts: a street food market different stations; the best themes and genres in the history of music; and a party full of live performances.
Circus of Horrors and Circlassica
The musical offering will be complemented with circus shows. The Circus of Horrors will perform until January 12 its show ‘Requiem: Final Symphony’, which is defined as the stage suicide of Jesús César Silva González, Suso Silva, its creator and master of ceremonies, winner in 2003 of the National Circus Award awarded by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports.
This sixth installment marks Suso Silva’s departure from the stage, after 20 years on stage and at the peak of his success. The Circus of Horrors was born in 2006 with the commitment to conceive an original, different and innovative circus show. His characteristic phrase “The Circus is dead, let’s dig it up” is a declaration of intent.
Producers of Sonrisas continue to position their brand Circlassic as one of the essential entertainment shows of Christmas. The winners of the 2023 National Circus Award return this year with a show titled ‘World History Continues’, a sequel to the story of last year’s Great World Circus.
Until January 12, the show by the González Villanueva brothers, heirs of one of the most important circus sagas in Europe, brings together more than 30 international artists on the track in the fifth edition of this family Christmas show.
Johnny, the charismatic clown who traveled the world to fulfill his dream, returns to the big top of Circlassica where his two talented nephews Blanca and Manu, 16 years old, are waiting for him to make their debut on the circus ring. Together they will have the complicated task of creating the greatest show in the world.
Malinche, the musical by Nacho Canoalso arrives with its third season with performances until March 2 in which it fuses genres such as rock, urban dance and flamenco, offering an experience that has captivated more than 500,000 spectators in the two previous editions.
Premiered on September 15, 2022, this show immerses the viewer in the roots of mestizaje through the love story between the indigenous translator Malinche and the Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortés in Mexico.
Marvel and Juvenalia
The exhibition Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes sample over 200 original pieces and explore Marvel’s 85-year historyfrom the original comics to its highest-grossing films, and includes some of the most iconic costume elements, accessories and works of art, many of which have never been on public display.
All of this will join two essential events on the pre-Christmas calendar aimed at children and young people, such as Juvenalia, from December 20 to January 4, and Gamery, from December 13 to 15.
