Change has happened slowly. It started maybe about ten or fifteen years ago, Seija Jäppilä says.
That’s when the skill level of Finnish schoolchildren started to collapse, something changed in the school. Jäppilä managed to teach languages in primary schools for more than 30 years, before he recently retired. He saw the change concretely in the everyday life of the school and in his own work.
