*if we assume sprint time anyway, then this is really the fastest roofless street car you will find.
Yesterday we presented the convertible with the highest mileage in the Netherlands. Now ‘SLK’ and ‘cabrio’ are not uncommon searches in the Marktplaats search bar of colleague Machiel, but with summer just around the corner you start to wonder whether being homeless isn’t very cool. But if you really want the fastest convertible in the world, how much money do you have to save up?
Fastest convertible
A lot, because the fastest convertible in the world comes from Bugatti. The official record holder is the Veyron Grand Sport WRC Vitesse, but with the arrival of the Mistral it is almost inevitable that it will be even faster. But in the sprint they should in theory lose out to today’s convertible.

Demon 170
It is a Dodge Challenger Demon 170. That is the superlative of the Dodge Challenger Demon. It was already quite extreme with a sprint time of around 2 seconds to 100 km/h and 840 hp. The Demon 170 is the ultimate conclusion to the Hellcat recipe and the 6.2 HEMI V8. The car now produces 1,025 hp and 1,281 Nm. Good for a theoretical 0-100 sprint in 1.66 seconds. Dude.

Convertible?
Now we hear you thinking: but there was no Dodge Challenger Convertible, was there? And the limited copies built by Huisvlijterts or third parties are not Demon 170s. That’s right, this is the only one of the 3,300 Demon 170s built and to be built that is designed as a convertible. That was done by Droptop Customs, but authorized by Dodge. Then everything must be fine, right?

It is not known what the specifications of the convertible are (and more importantly, whether the possible increased weight has an impact on the sprint time). But since this convertible is based on the fastest sprinting car in the world, the deviation won’t be huge.

Duration
And how expensive is that? The car recently sold for $242,000. Compared to the millions that a Bugatti costs, it’s not too bad, but it’s still a lot of money for a Dodge Challenger. But yes, the only one and probably the fastest, then it quickly costs a few bucks. (through Mecum)
