Sánchez accuses the right of turning hoaxes into its only political program and promises to “win again in 2027”

Pedro Sánchez made it clear this Tuesday that, despite the political, judicial and media storm in which he and his Government find themselves, the president could not be further from a defeatist attitude. Quite the contrary, Sánchez has dusted off his most combative rhetoric and has accused the right of having turned “hoaxes and lies into its only political program.”

A hoax program that Sánchez has said that he already defeated in 2023. “And we will defeat it again in 2027,” the union delegates gathered at the UGT confederal Congress that is being held these days in Barcelona promised in their speech.

On the same day that the Supreme Court has extended the investigation to the PSOE and the Government itself for the alleged leak of the emails between the Prosecutor’s Office and Isabel Díaz Ayuso’s partner, Sánchez has charged against the “attacks in the political and personal sphere” that he himself suffers, but also, he said, the general secretary of UGT, Pepe Álvarez.

“The personal attacks we suffer are intended to make us give up and make us think that this battle has no alternative to resignation,” said Sánchez, who then thanked all the people who told him “hang in there, Pedro.” That is why he has assured that, even if he receives attacks, he will maintain the helm of his policy for the three years of his term in office that remain before him. “Three years and those to come,” he added, showing that throwing in the towel is the last thing on his mind.

In a nod to his audience, Sánchez has assured that he is as proud to be a member of the UGT as he is to preside over a progressive executive that is demonstrating that “it is possible to stop the reactionary wave with governments in coalition and in a parliamentary minority.”

Before an audience of UGT members who this Monday received Alberto Núñez Feijóo from a distance, Sánchez delivered a speech of a clear social nature, in which he contrasted the economic and labor policies of his Government with those of the right.

“Throughout our history we have suffered many crises,” he indicated, giving as examples the economic crisis of 2008, the COVID pandemic or the Dana de València. “There are many crises,” he continued, “but there are only two ways to respond to them: from the left or from the right.”

With that foot, Sánchez has given credit to the social perspective of his Government when it comes to facing unexpected challenges, which he has also assured that it is a formula supported by data. “It took more than 10 years after the financial crisis to return to the GDP levels of 2008. However, after the pandemic, with a progressive response, both GDP and employment were recovered in just two years,” he exemplified. .

“Deniers by omission” in Valencia

Sánchez has dedicated a good part of his speech to comparing the responses given by his Government to the crises with the responses given by the PP. In this area, one of the issues on which he has focused is the disaster in Valencia, which has allowed him to charge against the Consell of Carlos Mazón, which he has described without citing it as a “climate change denier.”

“The great lesson of Valencia is that there is a more serious danger than the climate emergency, and it is the denialist Governments that, by action or omission, deny the climate emergency,” said Sánchez, who also insisted that the Government will accompany the neighbors. of the area until the end.

“I want to convey to the citizens of Valencia that when the spotlights and cameras go away, which is normal, the State Government will continue with them, in the reconstruction of the cities and in the relaunching of their economy,” he promised.
