Khaled Oram, the father of the Moroccan child Rayan, revealed the last words his son said inside the well, during attempts to rescue him from the bottom of a deep well, in a story whose details are terrifying at home and for many abroad.
The boy’s father said that Ryan was crying, and the last thing he said in a weak voice: “Let me go, let me go.” He indicated that he did not know how his son fell, and when he returned from prayer, he did not find him, according to the local “Shof TV” website.
The rescue operation of Rayan, aged 5 years, who was stuck in the middle of a well 60 meters deep and not exceeding 30 cm in diameter, on the outskirts of Chefchaouen, in northern Morocco, occupied the whole world.
The incident witnessed great sympathy from all over the world, as tweeters posted on the social networking site “Twitter”, pictures of the child and attached them to blogs in different languages, and launched many hashtags.
The child spent about 100 hours inside a narrow hole in the well, during which he suffered a hemorrhage in his head due to hitting the rocks during his fall. Medical examinations conducted by the medical team that entered the tunnel to extract the child Ryan showed that he was suffering from fractures in the neck and spine.
Millions in Morocco and the Arab world awaited a happy ending to the ordeal of the child, whose story brought wide international sympathy, but fate decided that he breathed his last alone shortly before the rescue teams arrived.
For his part, “Uncle Ali al-Sahrawi” (66 years), who works in the profession of digging wells, and was called by the child’s uncle to participate in the excavation and rescue operation, said that he continued digging manually for a distance of 5 meters, which took 20 hours.
The man, whose photos were transmitted through social networks, indicated that the rugged nature at the scene made the drilling process in the vicinity of the well arduous.
And he talked about the frequent landslides during the excavation operations, pointing out that the interception of the rock of the horizontal tunnel path took a long time until he crossed it to reach the child’s place.
