In recent weeks, the United States authorities have discussed in detail with their partners from Europe, as well as Ukraine, the situation related to the activity of the Russian military near the Ukrainian border. “In recent weeks and days, we have held detailed consultations with our European partners and allies, including Ukraine, about our concerns about these messages. During these contacts, we discussed our concerns about Russia’s actions towards Ukraine, ”she said at a briefing.
On the same day, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken confirmed the concern of the United States with the “irregular actions” of the Russian armed forces on the border with Ukraine. He said that he could not talk about the intentions of the Russian Federation, because he did not know “what they are.”
On November 10, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy called the movement of Russian troops along the Ukrainian borders, as well as the increase in their concentration, “psychological pressure.” At the same time, he spoke about the readiness of the Ukrainian army to repulse any “ever and anywhere”.
On November 1, Politico published an article showing satellite images. They allegedly showed a build-up of Russian armored units, tanks and self-propelled artillery near the city of Yelnya, allegedly on the border with Ukraine. However, it turned out that in fact the city is located on the territory of Belarus.
According to the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, satellite images of Russian tanks are “low-quality stuffing”.
These media, in turn, denied and in Kiev, calling the reports of pulling together Russian tanks near the border with Ukraine are disinformation.
On November 1, the Pentagon announced it was monitoring the situation on the Russian-Ukrainian border following reports of “unusual Russian activity.”
On April 9, the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, explained the presence of troops at the borders by ensuring the security of the Russian Federation. He stressed that Russia has the right to defend its legitimate interests.
