Petrobras will give Argentina part of its quota of natural gas purchased from Bolivia starting in July. The measure is part of an agreement reached with the company Energia Argentina (Enarsa) and provides for the allocation of up to 5 million cubic meters per day.
The transferred gas will be used to guarantee the supply of thermoelectric plants, residential and industrial demands in the province of Salta and other locations in the northern region of Argentina. The transfer will take place during the winter months, while the neighboring country awaits the completion of the recently tendered northern gas pipeline. After completion of the works, the northern region of Argentina will be served with gas from reserves in the Vaca Muerta fields.
The transfer of gas is part of a memorandum of understanding signed on April 18 between Petrobras and Enarsa, which also provides for the exchange of information, identification and feasibility studies for energy cooperation between the companies.
The information is from the newspaper The State of S. Paulo.
