His wife The mental state examination of the psychiatrist from Ullanlinna sentenced to death has been completed, but the court is still waiting for the opinion of the Institute of Health and Welfare (THL) on the matter, says Helsinki district court in its press release.
The Helsinki district court stated in its interim judgment in January that the psychiatrist is to blame for his wife’s death.
The actual judgment and punishment order for the case will be issued after THL’s statement is completed.

The man born in 1974 pleaded in his defense that the act was caused by a mental illness. The man told the court that he had no clear memories of the murder.

According to the interim verdict, the perpetrator had hit the victim on the head with an object like a candlestick at least five times. In addition, he had kicked, punched, squeezed and pressed his victim so that there were numerous evidences of violence on the deceased’s body.
As a result of the violence, the woman’s head had wounds 1–3 centimeters long and two ribs were broken. The blows to the head were so strong that the woman’s scalp was partially detached from the skull.
The court stated in its interim judgment that the violence was not short-lived and it has caused suffering to the victim. The beatings took place no more than an hour before the victim’s death.
The woman died of a cerebral hemorrhage.
