In Podolsk, a tumor with bones, hair and fat grew in a woman’s stomach
In Podolsk near Moscow, a tumor containing skull bones, hair and fat grew in a woman’s stomach. The Ministry of Health of the Moscow Region reported this on website.
The tumor was removed from the patient’s right ovary; its diameter was eight centimeters. As the department clarified, a teratoma was found in the woman’s abdomen – a congenital pathology that occurs during embryonic development.
“Operations of this kind are high-tech, because the removal of such tumors in patients of reproductive age should occur with maximum preservation of healthy ovarian tissue. This requires a certain, very careful surgical technique,” said the head physician of the Podolsk maternity hospital, Alexander Skobennikov.
After the intervention, doctors managed to preserve the woman’s reproductive function. The 34-year-old patient is now feeling well and has already been discharged.
Earlier in Bashkiria, a huge tumor was removed from the body of a resident of Ufa. Until recently, the man did not notice the tumor, which had already begun to rot; at the time of the operation his weight was 20 kilograms.
