Jorge G. Castañeda, who recently raised a “dirty war” against President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the candidate of Morena and the allies, Claudia Sheinbuamnow suggests that the opposition does not accept the result if the election ends with less than a double-digit difference against Xóchitl Gálvez.
The former Secretary of Foreign Affairs went further. He suggested that the opposition should contest the presidential election in case Sheinbaum comes out on top by just a single digit.
“I think it is going to be very important, but it is going to put, to place, the opposition in a very complicated, very contradictory situation. Why? Because in one of the hypotheses, in a scenario where Claudia Sheinbaum wins by 7, 8, 9 points, less than double digitsI believe (…) that he mustopposition to challenge presidential election“warned Vicente Fox’s foreign minister.
Not to recognize, to challenge, Jorge G. Castañeda stressed in the program Es la Hora de Opinar, on Televisa, alluding to the words of Luis Carlos Ugalde, former president advisor of the Federal Electoral Institute, who according to Héctor Aguilar Camín, “President Andrés “Manuel López Obrador of 2006 would be asking for the annulment of the elections organized by López Obrador of 2024.”
“What López Obrador would have done now and what he did in 2006, and what Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas did in 88. No, it’s not that there are no precedents for this, to challenge, not recognize, not congratulate, demonstrate, challenge in the courts.”
Then the host of the program Leo Zuckerman intervened, who warned Castañeda that 9 points in a presidential election are millions of votes.
“To simplify the one-digit thing, I’m thinking more like 5, 6, 7,” added former Foreign Minister Castañeda.
— It’s a jet too, Zuckerman said.
— Yes, but I think that what López Obrador has done every Mañanera for a year is also a blast.
“I’m telling you five, six, seven at least. Well,” said the former Fox official, who went further in his suggestion, in relation to Congress and the government of Mexico City.
“What to do then with Congress and with Mexico City If Taboada wins, I say that the same prank that López Obrador has done all his life: the ones I win are clean, the ones I lose are dirty,” he said.
Zuckerman told him that he did not agree with his proposal at all.
