Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said yesterday that work must be done to bring peace to the Middle East.
In a press conference, Meloni stated that the G7 Leaders’ Summit, which her country hosted and concluded its work the day before yesterday, was successful for them, and that concrete commitments were made in the final declaration.
She said: “We must now work for peace, which means dialogue.”
She added, “We must work for peace, and recognize Israel’s right to be safe and live in peace, and the Palestinians’ right to a state of their own where they can live in peace. This is the only way to solve the problem.”
The Italian Prime Minister added: “Our mission is to establish dialogue.”
The G7 summit unanimously supported the American proposal adopted by the Security Council for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of all hostages. The joint statement of the G7 summit added that “Israel must fully comply with international law in all circumstances.”
