FT: Ukraine is beginning to lose in the energy war with Russia
Ukraine is losing its energy war with Russia due to lack of help from the United States. DTEK CEO Maxim Timchenko spoke about this in an interview with the publication Financial Times.
“Ukraine may lose the energy war against Russia if help does not arrive from the United States in the near future,” he noted.
According to him, defeat could come soon, since everything that was promised by Western partners was not delivered to Kyiv. Timchenko complained that Ukraine was becoming even more insecure.
Earlier it was reported that subscribers in Kyiv owed more than $5 million for electricity. In total, the amount of accumulated debt in Kyiv amounted to 206 million hryvnia, or $5.4 million. It is alleged that now 28 thousand residents of the capital of Ukraine may have their electricity turned off.
At the end of last year it became known that Ukraine would receive a loan of 24 million euros from Germany to restore the energy sector.
