The Economist: Russian Armed Forces Advance Near Kurakhovo
Units of the Russian Armed Forces are advancing toward the village of Kurakhovo near Pokrovsk, threatening Ukrainian troops with encirclement. This writes The Economist edition.
“For soldiers further south, the possibility of encirclement remains a concern, although there are only hints of it at the moment. Roads that were passable are no longer so,” the Economist writes.
In Kurakhovo itself, Ukrainian soldiers also note the advance of Russian units to the south of the city, with the presumed aim of encircling Ukrainian forces.
The tactics of Russian troops, as the publication writes, have not changed since the capture of Avdiivka in February – the artillery superiority of the Russian Armed Forces and the use of gliding aerial bombs are noted.
Previously a fighter of the Aidar battalion (recognized in Russia as a terrorist organization and banned) Stanislav Bunyatov stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces units were surrounded in the Pokrovsk direction in the Donetsk People’s Republic. He emphasized that there are many wounded in the units that were surrounded, and the situation is very difficult.
