The Israeli Army confirmed, this Monday morning (27), a new air attack on Tal al Sultan, in Rafah, “based on precise information” and directed against two high-ranking members of the terrorist group, the division commander for the West Bank, Yassin Rabia; and another leader from the same division, Khaled Nagar.
“The Hamas wing in Judea and Samaria (West Bank) is responsible for planning, financing and executing terrorist attacks in that territory and inside Israel,” said an Israeli military statement about this Sunday’s (26) operation in the region.
The attack in a considered safe area of Rafah occurred hours after Hamas launched from that point in the Strip, according to the Army, eight rockets towards the center of the country, including Tel Aviv, for the first time in four months. Israel has reported several times that the militia uses the Palestinian population as a “human shield” in the enclave.
The Gaza Ministry of Health, controlled by the Islamist group and which has backtracked on presenting death tolls on other occasions, said at least 50 people were killed in the attack.
Hamas also used the new Israeli bombing as a ploy to provoke the Palestinian population to “increase public activities of anger and pressure to stop the genocidal war”. The terrorists “demanded” that the international community comply with UN resolutions and the order of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which is binding on Israel as a member of the United Nations.
The ICJ, the UN’s highest court located in The Hague, demanded on Friday (24) that Israel immediately stop its military offensive in Rafah to avoid “the total or partial physical destruction” of Gaza’s Palestinians and ordered it to guarantee access to specialized missions to investigate allegations of genocide.
Israel considered the ICJ’s accusations “false and repugnant” and responded by bombing Rafah a few minutes after issuing this new decision, a consequence of the process opened in January due to a complaint filed by South Africa. (With EFE Agency)
