One of the post-credits scenes Venom: Let There Be Carnage showed us the anti-hero arriving at the MCU for what we believe was going to be a fight against him spider-man from Tom Holland. All of this was scrapped entirely with another post-credits scene from No Way Homewhere we see eddie brock returning to his original universe, but leaving behind a small sample of the symbiote before departing. That means Venom was already out of MCU completely?
Erik Sommers and Cris McKenna, writers of No Way Home, revealed what this pair of scenes actually meant for the future of Spider-Man and the MCU. During the IGN Fan Fest, these two writers mentioned the following:
“That scene naturally leaves the door open for all sorts of exciting possibilities. But we really have no idea. This is above our salary… we are not masters of those courses in the next adventure.”
With the arrival of the symbiote MCUIt is expected that spider-man finally wore the black suit during his fourth movie, but as you can see, not even the writers of No Way Home they know exactly what could happen.
Publisher’s note: I definitely feel like it was a wasted opportunity that Venom and Spider-Man aren’t going to square off in the MCU. Of course, a new version of the character could appear in the future, but what Tom Hardey has done in the role will be difficult to replace.
