Downdetector, which monitors internet outages by collecting reports from a number of sources in the US, has reported that thousands of users have reported problems with Meta Platforms’ Instagram app.
The site said nearly 24,000 Instagram users were affected by the outage by 5 p.m. EST.
“We have learned that some users have experienced a problem using Instagram. We are working to get things back to normal and apologize for any inconvenience,” a Meta spokesperson said in an emailed statement.
According to Downdetector, the number of users affected by the outage is currently nearly two thousand.
According to the site, Twitter services were down earlier Thursday for about three hours, affecting up to 50,000 users at peak time.
And the services of the WhatsApp, Instagram and Meta Messenger applications were also disrupted at the end of last year and were cut off from billions of users.
