12 months of nightmare
There technical and sporting crisis that hit Honda in MotoGP in recent years it has been vertical. The Japanese company went from dominating the category to being at the bottom of the group, losing in the space of 12 months first the reference rider – Marc Marquez – and then the sponsor who had accompanied the official team for 30 years: Repsol. The Japanese giant is now trying to get back on top, but the distance from the other manufacturers is not easy to bridge.
New solutions
In the last tests held in Misano HRC tried to introduce some updatesfocusing in particular on hull and frame. Small news which, however, seem to have provided some encouraging signs, at least according to what was reported by the French driver – representative of the LCR team – Johann Zarco. “We tried a new fairing which gave us something good in fast corners, which is a big help – explained the former Pramac standard bearer – the feeling I had at turn 11 (the Curvone) made me smile inside my helmet, because it is the fastest corner of the season and I found the possibility of going faster in this corner with more stability and less fear“.
The new regulation
However, Zarco said the most interesting things while looking at the more distant futurethat of regulatory change that will take place in 2027 and that he will see one strong reduction in aerodynamics and devices such as the lowering device.
According to the Frenchman, this revolution will complement the work that Honda is doing now: “From what I hear from the bike, from this whole discussion about the fairing and the steps we are taking, I hope to get back to something more normal in 2027. I would like to be part of this development and race in 2027 to see if the bike will get the advantage it had in the past is new – he concluded – Why from what I feel in the feel of the frame and the behavior of the bike, I’m sure that [Honda] he has knowledge that others do not havebut at the moment it is being disturbed by all these wings“.
