Ivorian striker Sebastian Haller confirmed that he did not feel pressure upon his arrival to his new team, Borussia Dortmund, to succeed Norwegian striker Erling Haaland, who left for Manchester City.
Haller, 28, said on the sidelines of Dortmund’s training camp in the Swiss resort of Bad Ragaz: I did not come to Borussia Dortmund as a successor to anyone, but because the team needs my competence.
Haller is one of six players that Dortmund signed this summer with, with the aim of ending Bayern Munich’s dominance of the Bundesliga title, as it won the title in the last ten years.
Dortmund also signed Niklas Zule from Bayern Munich, Nico Schlutterbeek from Freiburg, Karim Adeymi from Red Bull Salzburg, Saleh Ozkan from Cologne, and Alexander Mayer from Jan Regensburg.
Haller hopes to adapt quickly to his new team, especially as he has previous experience in the Bundesliga, which he obtained through his experience with his former team, Eintracht Frankfurt, before moving to West Ham United, and then Ajax Amsterdam.
The Ivorian striker explained: I know a little about what to do, it was not like this when I moved to Frankfurt and I did not know anything about the Bundesliga or the Germans.
Haller concluded by saying: I have more experience, I hope it will be enough for success.
