A latest leak confirms most of the already known specs of Google's economic model, while also providing guidance on its cost.
Last year, the Pixel 7a established itself as one of the best Android devices on the market.
Now it seems that Pixel 8a is ready to receive the baton, bringing further improvements and consolidating the series as the ideal choice for those looking for a economical device.
We have been hearing about this phone for some time, in fact we have already had the opportunity to take a look at some of its specifications.
We know that Google's next mid-range smartphone will be a model that will be very close in terms of features to the brand's flagship models.
Just a few hours ago, Yogesh Brar revealed new details about X, providing confirmations and a presumed price of Google's new “budget” phone.
Technical confirmations
The leaker has revealed the Pixel 8a spec sheet, and while it largely conforms to the information already known, it seems like there's a pleasant surprise in store for those anxiously awaiting the device's announcement.
Confirmations first of all for him 6.1 inch FHD+ OLED screen with a high refresh rate of 120Hz and the chipset Tensor G3the same as high-end Pixels.
Also the photographic sector is the subject of validation, with the 64 MP (with optical stabilization) and 13 MP (ultrawide) rear camera system in common with the previous model.
On the front side, we find a 13 megapixel sensor for selfies.
The device will already be pre-installed with Android 14 and as far as memory is concerned, it is expected there will be two options: 128 and 256 GB.
Finally, the most interesting news comes from the front battery and charging.
According to Brar, Pixel 8a will be equipped with a cell of approximately 4,500 mAhsimilar to that of the Pixel 8 and improved compared to the 4,385 mAh of the Pixel 7a.
Furthermore, there will also be a charging speed of 27 W, identical to that of its “big brother” and considerably faster than the “modest 18 W” of its predecessor.
Mid-range leader price
Brar expects the Pixel 8a launch to be in May, with an estimated price between 500 and 550 dollars.
The figure would seem to reasonably position it in competition with the Galaxy A55 and other solid devices that orbit in the mid-range.
Pixel 8 cost us €799, a higher figure than its predecessor which cost €649; it must be said that it is currently possible to find the Google flagship for less than €400, consequently, a possibly higher price for the Pixel 8a would have been problematic.
Considering the time window indicated by the leaker for the launch, it is plausible to expect it for I/O 2024, a convention that Google usually organizes every year in the month of May, thus following the launch model of the Pixel 7a, which also took place in the same month.
