We live in a golden age for video game adaptations. After years of failures, productions like fallout have proven that the stories and characters we love so much can work on the big and small screen. Now, It was recently revealed that SEGA has given the green light to an animated series of golden ax.
According to Variety, Comedy Central has ordered 10 episodes of an animated series golden axwith Mike McMahan and Joe Chandler as the creators of this project. Along with this, Matthew Rhys, Danny Pudi, Lisa Gilroy, Liam McIntyre, and Carl Tart have been selected for the voice cast. This is the official description of the project:
“Follow veteran warriors Ax Battler (McIntyre), Tyris Flare (Gilroy) and Gilius Thunderhead (Rhys) as they fight once again to save Yuria from the evil giant Death Adder, who just doesn't seem to stay dead. Fortunately, this time they have the inexperienced and underprepared Hampton Squib (Pudi) on their side.”
McMahan and Chandler will co-write the first episode of the series and serve as executive producers, with Chandler also serving as showrunner. Haruki Satomi, President and CEO of SEGA Sammy Holdings Inc., Shuji Utsumi, President and COO of SEGA Corporation, and Toru Nakahara, member of SEGA, will also serve as executive producers.
For its part, it has been revealed that Titmouse, famous for Big Mouthwill be the animation studio of the series. Unfortunately, at the moment there is no release date for this series, nor more details about it. However, considering that Comedy Central will be the home of this production, it is very likely that we will see an action comedy. On related topics, classic SEGA games will be back.
