Free road for Antoni Cañete re -election at the head of Pimec. The Catalan employer of SMEs has closed on Friday the deadline for the presentation of candidacies with a single list headed by Cañete. In the absence of other candidates, the Electoral Board will proclaim the candidate next Wednesday once the procedures established in the regulations and statutes of the employer are completed.
It is a different situation than that of four years ago, when Cañete had to be measured at the polls with an alternative option orchestrated by the Catalan National Assembly (ANC) and led by Pere Barrios.
On that occasion, the businessman won comfortably with 83% of the votes and became president of the employer in replacement of the historical Josep Gonzáleztoday chairs the Pimec Foundation. Under the leadership of Cañete, the business organization has grown in number of partners, 20% more, and the objective that SMEs have more weight in social dialogue forums has been marked.
Renewed Board
Cañete has presented a list of 113 entrepreneurs and representatives of unions and associations of different sectors and territories, of which 30% are new additions.
The President’s team has the support of entities and institutions such as the College of Psychologists of Catalonia, with Elena Puigdevall; Barcelona Oberta, with Gabriel Jané; Amec, with Jordi Galtés; the Catalan Association of Assistance Resources (ACRA), represented by Montserrat Llopis; and the Christian Escola Fundació de Catalunya, with the former council of education Meritxell Ruizamong others.
Signings such as those of Albert Sumarroca (Bodegues Sumarroca), Clara Gómez (Grup Cade, owner of Abacus)Jordi Mateu (Summa Branding), Jordi Nadal (Editorial Platform), Judith Viader (Frit Ravich)Marta Vallès (votetun), Pau Vila (Lc Paper) and Ruben Bonet (Fractus).
The First meeting of the new Board of Directors is scheduled for the February 25. During the meeting the “strategic lines” of the new mandate will be marked.
