Flamengo puts its best campaign in the competition to the test: in eight matches, it was defeated only once, by Boca Juniors, from Argentina, still in the qualifying phase. Rubro-Negro advanced first in group C and then defeated Obras Sanitarias, from Argentina, in the quarterfinals, 2-0 in the best of three games series. The team's greatest weapon is forward Gabriel Jaú, who has the fifth highest points average of the tournament, with 17.3 per game.
The Mexican team has a nine-game campaign, with six wins and three defeats, having eliminated Nacional, from Uruguay, 2-1, in the quarter-finals.
