Felix Manuel Perez MiyaresMinister of Labor with Adolfo Suárez, died this Monday at the age of 88.
Pérez Miyares was a fundamental pillar in the construction of modern Andalusia and one of the most important politicians that Huelva has produced, along with Fátima Báñez and José Antonio Marín Rite.
Born in Nerva (Huelva), on September 4, 1936. Politician and lawyer. Married to Remuca Travieso and father of five children.
He studied Law at the University of Sevillespecializing in Labor Law and Trade Union Law. In Madrid he expanded his studies in Sociology, Cooperative Law and Criminology, becoming a union lawyer in 1965.
In 1977, Adolfo Suárez entrusted him with the organization of Democratic Center Union in the province of Huelva. Deputy for UCD (Huelva) in the 1977 and 1979 legislatures; and by the popular coalition PDP (Jaén) in 1986.

Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries of the Government of Andalusia in the first pre-autonomous government. Vice President of UCD Andalusia with Manuel Clavero as President (1979-1980) and Regional President until 1982. First General Delegate of the Government in Andalusia, appointed by Leopoldo Calvo Sotelo (February – September 1982). He resigned to run for UCD in the 1982 general elections, but was unable to repeat his seat for Huelva.
President of the Port Authority of Seville (1996-1998). Coordinator for the recovery of the Guadiamar (1998-2004) after the collapse of the Bolidén reservoir (Aznalcázar), one of the biggest ecological disasters in recent years.
He has been decorated with the Grand Cross of the Order of Charles III and the Cross of Civil Merit.
