According to the chairman of the Greens, the problem is the pressure from a foreign state, not the people seeking asylum.
The greens chairman Sofia Virta emphasizes that Russia’s actions on the eastern border are reprehensible and must be brought to an end.
“The people seeking asylum are not the problem, but the operation launched by a foreign state with the purpose of putting pressure on Finland is.”
On Saturday morning, Virta spoke to the Green party council in Tampere.
Power reminded that Finland must not give up its rule of law principles even in this situation, even if Russia tries to undermine the Finnish value base.
“It is essential that we do not give up our principles under pressure, we do not submit to efforts to turn Finns against each other,” Virta said.
He emphasized that decisions should be carefully prepared in accordance with the principles of the rule of law, even when the pressure is high.
“We do not accept that the work of the Chancellor of Justice has been criticized even by decision-makers at the ministerial level. Under no circumstances should the work of the highest legality supervisor be politicized.”
Virta also reminded that the Greens’ party leadership and the majority of the parliamentary group have given their support to the government’s decision to close the border crossing points for passenger traffic on the eastern border, with the exception of Salla Raja-Joosepp.
