While the film adaptation has now passed the second chapter and is moving towards the last of the trilogy, there is also a TV series coming soon to Frank Herbert’s great sci-fi classic, featuring Dune: Prophecy which comes with this official trailer.
Produced by HBO Maxthe series represents a sort of prequel to the events narrated mainly in the first novel and in the film trilogy, set about 10,000 years before the story of Paul Atreides, although the elements shown in the video actually don’t seem that distant from the known story.
The characterizing elements of Dune are therefore all in their place in this case too, as we can clearly see from the trailer in question.
The iconography and general style are very close to Denis Villeneuve’s films, probably with a safer choice on the part of the producers, given the success of the films so far.
A complex genesis
Previously known as Dune: The Sisterhood, the TV series had a very complex genesis, having also gone through important defections which certainly led to major changes in the general vision of the project.
After losing the director and one of the protagonists, the production was put on hold last year, but evidently the problems were resolved and it was restarted with enthusiasm, considering that the exit period The date is set for autumn 2024, so the work should be completed shortly.
The story should focus on the creation of the Bene Gesserit order, that is, the mysterious sisterhood that is the guardian of enormous powers capable of controlling the universe. The series is expected to consist of six episodes, with Alison Schapker (Westworld) as showrunner, Emily Watson and Olivia Williams in the roles of Valya and Tula Harkonnen.
