Pilgrims today begin heading to the Māshār of Mina on the “Day of Tarwiyah,” which is the first stop of the Hajj rituals after entering Ihram, as the pilgrims prepare to spend the day, Friday, corresponding to the 8th of Dhul-Hijjah, at Māshār Mina, following the Sunnah of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. Mina’s hair is located between Mecca and Muzdalifah, 7 kilometers northeast of the Grand Mosque. It is within the boundaries of the Holy Mosque, in the form of a valley surrounded by mountains on the northern and southern sides. It is bordered on the one hand by Mecca and Jamrat al-Aqaba, and on the one hand by Muzdalifah is Wadi Muhasir.
Mina has prepared with several measures to receive pilgrims, including the operation of the Holy Sites train, which started at dawn yesterday on its first trip for the Hajj season of 1445 AH, in order to serve the guests of God in their movements between the holy sites in Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah, through its stations spread over these sites. They are 9 stations distributed in the Holy Sites, connected by a double railway line with a length of 18 km. The train’s capacity is 72,000 passengers per hour in one direction, and it provides more than 2,000 trips. It works to facilitate the movement of the guests of God to and from their locations, while the speed of the train reaches 80 kilometers per hour and can cover the distance between Mina and Arafat in approximately twenty minutes. The Holy Sites train fleet consists of 17 trains, and the capacity of one train is three thousand passengers, while The seat capacity of the train is 20% of its total passengers, bringing the capacity of the Holy Sites Train to 72,000 passengers per hour, and it contributes to transporting more than 350,000 pilgrims in its movement to transport pilgrims between the various Holy Sites. The stations were designed according to the number of entry and exit doors. The train has 60 doors on each side, as the Holy Sites Train contributes to transporting hundreds of thousands of pilgrims in each of its different movements between the sites.
The various sectors have completed their readiness in preparation to receive the influx of the guests of God, observing their rituals with complete reassurance, as the Saudi Ministry of Health announced the preparation of hospitals, clinics, and ambulance and emergency departments equipped with modern equipment to receive emergency cases and deal with all cases, including various operating rooms, in addition to laboratories equipped with the latest technologies. And qualified human cadres to conduct all medical analyzes and examinations. The Ministry also announced the continuation of its awareness campaign for the guests of God in various parts of the holy sites during the Hajj season, with the aim of spreading health awareness among pilgrims, and informing them of the preventive measures that must be followed to preserve their health and safety during their performance of Hajj rituals. The campaign included disseminating information about preventing heat stress resulting from high temperatures, advice about public health, and others about dealing with emergency situations through awareness and guidance panels distributed throughout the holy sites, lectures presented to Hajj delegations, and broadcasting digital materials across screens and platforms. The awareness and guidance signs come within the framework of the Ministry’s efforts to ensure that pilgrims receive the best care during the Hajj season, as the signs are available in multiple languages, while the health sector authorities continue their efforts and endeavors to ensure that the pilgrims enjoy quality health care that is consistent with the best standards followed.
The Ministry warned pilgrims of the dangers of exposure to the heat of roofs in the holy sites, which reach high temperatures, and alerted pilgrims that exposure to sunlight for long periods poses a major risk to their health, noting that the Hajj season this year 1445 AH coincides with rising temperatures in Mecca. This represents one of the greatest difficulties that pilgrims face.
The Ministry called on pilgrims to always use umbrellas to avoid direct exposure to the sun, and to drink water in sufficient quantities throughout the day, even if they do not feel thirsty, and to adhere to all health instructions and advice, and to stay away from exposure to the sun’s rays and not to walk on or touch surfaces during peak hours. For its part, the General Authority of Roads carried out many safety and maintenance works, in order to ensure the comfort and safety of the guests of God on the Kingdom’s road network during their movement to and from the Holy Sites, starting from the border crossings, as all roads leading to the Holy Sites from the border crossings were surveyed, through the latest Techniques used in surveying, evaluation and road maintenance. The General Authority of Roads inspected 1,000 bridges leading to the Holy Sites, with the aim of ensuring the readiness of all road networks to serve the pilgrims, and raising the level of their safety during their movement towards the Holy Sites, while improving the experience of road users.
The Ministry of Transport and Logistics has prepared a flexible rubber asphalt initiative in the pedestrian walkways in the Holy Sites for Hajj this year along the road parallel to Pedestrian Road No. 6 leading to Mount Al-Rahma in Arafat, which contributes to reducing the temperature by about 20% compared to the rest of the roads.
