Following a spike in reports of cheating in call of Duty which occurred in the middle of this month, Activision has decided to impose a ban towards well 6000 user profiles.
Of course, this is not a large number like the 90,000 cheaters banned in one week exactly one year ago, but in this case the publisher also opted for disable certain functions of game.
“Within the security updates ongoing, a telemetry system was taken offline for updates over the weekend,” Activision said. “This action led cheat developers to claim that RICOCHET Anti-Cheat was offline. It is not so.
“As a result of monitoring activity over the weekend and intentional reactivation of the updated system, #TeamRICOCHET was able to identify and ban over 6,000 accounts for cheating and hacking from February 16-20.”
“Our team continues to work on security updates for issues across Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare 3 modes”
