Kontiolahti

Mari Ederille once again missed something to play at the World Biathlon Cup in Kontiolahti.

Had Eder not shot the hut in the last stand, he would have been caught in the prize position in the sprint. He is now 24 seconds behind in second place, with about 25 seconds to go around the fines.

The victory for Sprint was taken by the German Olympic winner Denise Herrmann before Norway Tiril Eckhoffia and Sweden Stina Nilsson. The entire top three, like Eder, fired one passing shot.

Eder lost to Herrmann for 29 seconds. In skiing, Eder was at the top pace.

“After Thursday’s stigma, it was nice to shoot zeros. I’ll play a passing shot tonight. Today would have been an opportunity to get on the podium [palkintokorokkeelle]. It’s the motivator for all the action, ”Eder said in his ninth place.

In the street of shame, Eder meant Thursday’s race, where he toured for the first time this season in a message in the finale.

Eder placed in the top ten for the third time this season. He was eighth in the sprint at Oberhof and ninth in Annecy.

In In his career at the World Cup that began in 2007, Eder (née Laukkanen) has experienced almost all the rankings from number one downwards.

At the end of the 2017 season, he finally won the sprint and chase at Holmenkollen.

“I’ve been aiming to be a steady performer. Then, when I get the flatness, I look for individual top performances. If I had shot zeros today, no one would have asked why, and I wouldn’t have to embarrass somely form some answers, ”Eder said in his cheerful manner.

However, Eder leaves for Sunday’s chase with confidence. The top ten is only within 32 seconds of each other, or more than one round of fines.

“It’s cool to be at home competitions and be able to offer a sports show. There have not been too many of these. The goal setting is to fight for the podium with zero shooting, ”Eder said.

Herrmann won Olympic gold in Beijing on a regular trip. In the World Cup sprint, he took his opening win of the season. Before Kontiolahti, his best investment was ninth in Östersund at the end of last year.

Stina Nilsson rose to the podium for the first time in biathlon. In 2018, he won Olympic gold in the cross-country sprint.

He did not switch to biathlon until the spring of 2020.

Suvi Minkkinen was pleased to have reached Sunday’s chase and World Cup points.

Remember of Finns Suvi Minkkinen starts chasing from 25th place. The difference to the top is a minute and 13 seconds.

Joutsa’s best athlete shot one fine. This season, Minkkinen has been Norwegian Marte Oslbu Røiselandin with the most accurate female shooters on tour.

“And now we left one after the other. I always get excited before every sprint to get to the chase. I have hopes that I will get to the World Cup points, ”said Minkkinen, when more than half of the women were still on the track.

The best 40 points will be awarded to the World Cup, so both of Minkkinen’s goals were achieved.
