Annimari Kortte’s criminal complaint concerned a man who commented on her on social media.
Quick beeper Annimari Korte filed a criminal complaint in the summer about a man who has repeatedly commented on him and his performances on social media.
The Helsinki police studied the material they received during the preliminary investigation, but did not suspect that a crime had occurred, and no preliminary investigation was conducted.
The new documents show that Kortte’s attorney later asked the police to reevaluate the matter concerning Kortte.
In the new request, it was suggested that even though no preliminary investigation was conducted regarding defamation, the matter should be re-evaluated in the light of, for example, the characteristic signs of assault, stalking and personal injury.
The representative stated that the actions of the man who published several messages are of the nature of mental violence and psychological abuse. According to the representative, the action has caused damage and suffering to the interested party.
Also in this latter case, the head of the investigation stated that there is no reason to suspect a crime in the case, and no preliminary investigation will be conducted.
Director of investigations justified his decision in detail in the documents. Although the suspected man has been active on social media and criticized Kortetta, he was not suspected of committing a crime.
According to the head of the investigation, sarcastic but generally factual criticism related to sports performances or comments on them cannot be equated with mental violence.
The grounds also stated that the man’s X-account (formerly Twitter) focuses on commenting on numerous athletes and sports in general, and not on slandering Kortte.
Horsetail, 35, did not qualify for the World Championships in Budapest last season. He missed the qualifying mark of the Games by five hundredths of a second.
Kortte’s record in the 100-meter hurdles is 12.72, which he ran in the summer of 2019. The time was the Finnish record for a long time, until Reetta Hurske made a new record of 12.70 last summer.
