Andalusia was the region of the European Union (EU) where agricultural production reached the highest value in 2022. It reached 16 billion euros. This has been reported by the community statistics office Eurostat. The following regions were Brittanyin France, (11,000 million euros) and Lombardyin Italy, (10,000 million euros). It follows Weser-Ems in Germany and Pays de la Loire in France (9,000 million euros each). In 2022, total EU agricultural production amounted to €524 billion.
In Andalusia the value of crop production amounted to 13,000 million euros, the highest in the EU and more than double that recorded in South Holland (Netherlands) and Champagne-Ardennes in France (almost 6 billion euros each). The other 3,000 million euros correspond to the value of livestock production.
In Europe as a whole, the value of the production of crops was higher than animal production (55% vs. 40%); the rest (5%) came from agricultural services. In most of the EU, crop production accounted for more than half of the value of total agricultural production.
By contrast, in 64 regions, the value of animal production exceeded 50% of total agricultural production.
Regions with a greatest animal production were Brittanyin France, (more than 7,000 million euros), Weser-Ems in Germany (just under 7,000 million euros) and the southern region of Ireland (almost 6,000 million euros).
In eleven regions at least 70% of production came from livestock, including two Spanish regions: Cantabria (75%) and Asturias (72%).
