Millions of Afghans are suffering from hunger and cold this winter.
United the UN Security Council has reached a unanimous solution that will make it easier to help Afghanistan in its humanitarian crisis, according to AFP.
The five permanent members of the Security Council, Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States, often disagree on conflict-related issues, and each has the opportunity to veto a UN resolution.
On Wednesday the agreement reached is important because a significant number of Afghanistan’s approximately 40 million people suffer from hunger and cold.

Afghanistan is in dire need of humanitarian aid, but there has been disagreement among foreign powers over the preconditions for sharing. The solution now allows aid to be delivered without fear of international punishment.
The Taliban, an extremist Islamist organization, came to power last August, and new sanctions are being imposed on new rulers. Billions of euros have been frozen in Afghanistan because the Taliban would be afraid to use the money for its own purposes and not to help its citizens.
