Despite a second assassination attempt on former US President and presidential candidate Donald Trump in less than 3 months, the chances of the US presidential candidates are still balanced.
According to experts who spoke to Al-Ittihad, US President Donald Trump’s chances are still equal to his Democratic counterpart Kamala Harris, and the second assassination attempt is not expected to have any impact on opinion polls.
Marah Al-Baqai, an analyst of American affairs and head of the White House platform, said that the second assassination attempt targeting former President Donald Trump contributes to raising the level of political tension and deepening the state of polarization between the Republican and Democratic parties in the American street.
She added that the Democratic candidate represents the left, while the Republican candidate represents the extreme right, which increases tensions, stressing that this second attempt is a very bad step in the history of the United States, and many observers consider it a direct result of the political mobilization against Trump, who is portrayed as an enemy of democracy and the American people.
For his part, American affairs expert Ashley Ansara said that the second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump in the past three months raises concerns about the security and political situation in the country, noting that the suspect has a long criminal record, which strengthens the hypothesis that the incident was an individual act, especially since the killer suffers from mental health problems according to initial investigations.
He added that the security measures at the site were well-established, which helped thwart the attempt quickly.
Despite the seriousness of the incident, he believes that its impact on the outcome of the upcoming elections will be limited, as it is not believed to be primarily politically motivated.
