Mega Man 11 hit the market in 2018. While we’ve seen multiple collections since then that have made the character’s extensive history available, it’s been six years since the last completely original adventure, and it’s currently unknown when this streak will end. Fortunately, Mega Man is always on Capcom’s mind, even if they don’t show it.
In a recent meeting with investorsCapcom executives were questioned about the possibility of seeing a new Mega Man game in the future. Although no specific details were offered to confirm or deny possible plans of the company, It was mentioned that Mega Man is always on the studio’s mind. This is what was said about it:
“[Mega Man es una] Highly valued IP, [y siempre estamos] considering how to create games for her on an ongoing basis.”
Unfortunately, At the moment there are no concrete plans to bring back Mega Man with a new game.. So far, multiple series of the character are already available on current consoles thanks to various collections. The only exception is the Legends saga, which remains trapped on the PlayStation 1, although this could change at any moment.
Once both Legends games are available on modern platforms, then the talk about Mega Man 12 or Mega Man X9 is probably much louder. In related topics, Mega Man 12 could be on the way. Similarly, two rare Mega Man games are getting translations.
Author’s Note:
Mega Man 11 proved that this series has a place today. I hope we see more of this character soon. My choice would be a complete reboot of the Mega Man X series, something that would appeal to new and old fans of the series.
