During the early morning hours of yesterday, sacrificers flocked to the slaughterhouses designated by the Abu Dhabi City Municipality to receive the public, after completing the Eid al-Adha prayer, amid expectations that the public will continue to head to the slaughterhouses today, Monday and tomorrow, Tuesday.
Some sacrificers turned to smart applications to obtain sacrificial processing services, as the municipality provided two options for the public to obtain sacrificial preparation services, including smart applications to request sacrifices, through the applications: (My sacrifice, the island’s sacrifices, the Emirates’ sacrifices, and the halal of our farms), or through Visiting slaughterhouses (Al Wathba, Baniyas, Al Shahama).
The Abu Dhabi City Municipality increased the readiness of its slaughterhouses to receive about 37,000 sacrifices during the days of Eid Al-Adha, and worked to increase the numbers of butchers, workers, and maintenance crews, as well as increasing the numbers of officials receiving the carcasses and delivering meat in each slaughterhouse, in addition to preparing to meet the public’s requests through phone applications. Smart, to provide its services with ease and convenience.
The municipality has equipped the external courtyards of the slaughterhouses with air-conditioned tents and shaded corridors with cooled drinking water to receive the increasing numbers of the public, as Eid al-Adha falls in mid-June with the beginning of the summer season. It also pays special attention to the people of determination and senior citizens who visit the slaughterhouses.
Slaughterhouse services began from 6:00 am and continue until 5:30 pm during the days of Eid Al Adha, as the municipality allocated the Abu Dhabi automated slaughterhouse in the Mina Zayed area to prepare Red Crescent slaughterhouses and smart applications, while the Baniyas slaughterhouse and the Al Wathba automated slaughterhouse were allocated to receive And the preparation of the sacrifices of the honorable public, while the automated slaughterhouse of Shahama was allocated to receive and prepare the sacrifices of the public and smart applications together.
The municipality worked to increase the number of butchers in all slaughterhouses, as the number of butchers in the Baniyas slaughterhouse reached 150 butchers to prepare about 13,000 expected sacrifices and carcasses, 50 butchers in the Abu Dhabi automated slaughterhouse to prepare about 10,000 sacrifices and carcasses, and 50 butchers in the Shahama automated slaughterhouse to prepare about 7. Thousands of sacrifices and carcasses, and 45 butchers in the Al Wathba automated slaughterhouse to prepare about 7 thousand sacrifices and carcasses.
A specialized veterinary medical staff was provided in each slaughterhouse, to examine the animals prepared for slaughter before slaughtering them, and then examine the meat after the slaughter operations to ensure its suitability for consumption, in order to ensure the production of healthy meat free of any pathogens, in order to preserve the health and safety of community members.
Approved slaughterhouses
The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City called on the public to avoid performing slaughter operations outside approved slaughterhouses, as it is a violation punishable by Law No. (2) of 2012 regarding maintaining the public appearance, health, and public tranquility in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Teams affiliated with the Inspection Department in the municipality’s sub-centers also receive reports. Follow up and impose fines on violators.
